Outdoor Learning- 24th March 2026
This week we were lucky enough to take part in an outdoor learning session led by The Green Team. We started with some team building and listening games and then built dens in the woods using tarpaulins and ropes. Afterwards we hung hammocks in our dens and enjoyed relaxing and swinging in them!
Matilda the Musical Trip- 5th March 2026
This week P6B were invited to watch the dress rehearsal of Matilda the Musical at the Edinburgh Playhouse. The cast were all so talented and all the songs were amazing! Some of our favourite parts were Bruce eating the chocolate cake, Amanda being swung round by her pigtails and the song ‘Revolting Children’.
Dynamic Earth Trip- 21st January 2026
This week we went on our school trip to Dynamic Earth as part of our Space topic. First we took a tour of the exhibits where we learnt about how the Earth was formed, touched a real life iceberg and experienced an earthquake.
Then we took part in a workshop where we became astronauts for the day and took part in activities similar to those an astronaut would complete while on the International Space Station. We finished off the day with a show in the planetarium, presented by an astronomer.
Planet Presentations- 15th January 2026
This week we have been learning about the planets in our solar system. We worked in groups to create Keynote presentations about a planet and had certain information we needed to research and include. We used our digital learning to add animations, images and backgrounds to make our presentations eye-catching and easy to understand. We presented these to the class and taught everyone about the planet we researched.

WHHS Sports Leaders Activities
This term, every Monday, we have been visiting the high school to take part in activities planned and run by the Sports leaders at Wester Hailes High School. Each lesson has focused on different skills such as teamwork, balance, strategy and coordination. We have really enjoyed working with the high school pupils and spending time in the PE department.

Natural Disasters Topic- September 2026
This term we have been learning all about natural disasters. So far we have looked at volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis. We worked in groups to create our own volcanoes out of paper mâché. We used newspaper and PVA glue to make the base and once they were dry we painted them to look more realistic. After that, we made a chemical reaction with bicarbonate of soda, vinegar, washing up liquid and warm water which made the volcano explode! We had great fun! Here are some photos…
