Welcome to a new term. The children have settled in to the new classroom and have had a great couple of days learning new routines, being super kind to each other, sharing and taking care of resources and having a fun start to Primary 4.
P.E. will be first thing on Wednesday and Thursdays this year and Big Noise will be on a Tuesday afternoon – I can’t wait to hear how talented this class is and enjoy future Big Noise concerts.
Looking after our monsters
Today the children made their own monster pets. They could make them clothes, a house, a bed, play with them, have a snooze with them and take them out to play in the playground – most importantly though they had to look after their monster pet. This was a fun, creative, imaginative and collaborative lesson to teach the children empathy, friendship and how to take care of others. Some of the monster pets even got haircuts!
Primary 4 Class Charter
We started our class charter today and learnt about our rights and responsibilities. Some of the rights that children thought were important was the right to be safe, the right to learn and the right to play. We love how diverse our class is and will always celebrate differences in cultures. We will add our responsibilities soon.
Show and Tell
Every Monday 2 random children will be selected to bring a few items in to share with the class. This is a great activity to get to know the children better and for them develop their listening and talking skills.
Book Bus
Book bus is back this year – Every month, the children get to choose a book (to be kept in school) and this is a wonderful resource to encourage reading for pleasure. The children love listening to stories being read to them also. This is a great way to develop their vocabulary and natural curiosity about the world.

Maths Games
We had great fun learning through different maths games yesterday – We worked on STEM challenges, digital maths games, equal groups, addition and using numicon. A fun session of active learning to help keep the class engaged and learn through play.
