Welcome to Playground Pioneers: We can make a difference!!!!
Meeting 1 – Wednesday 17th September 2025
Our aims are:
1 – Getting games painted onto the playground tarmac
2 – Getting new playground resources
3 – Encouraging litter picking by displaying posters, more bins and possibly having litter picking monitors.
Here is our fabulous group – We have children from p3 – P7 classes and we are working collaboratively.

Meeting 2 – Wednesday 29th October 2025
We discussed our new Meta skill for this month which is Creativity – this means we use our wonderful imaginations to create and solve problems. In our second meeting we looked at data collected from whole school playground questionnaires and we discussed the findings. Some of our older group members used the data to create bar graphs. Everyone used their imaginations to create a drawing of their dream playground. Popular opinion is that we will get some painted games on the playground – the group realised how expensive this can be and budgeted accordingly using our playground improvement fund. Exciting times ahead!!

Meeting 3 – Wednesday 28th January 2026
This was a very productive meeting. We split into 2 groups. 1 group wrote letters to local building and plumbing companies to ask for any free donations of loose parts, such as pipes, tyres, or pallets. Fingers crossed we get some positive replies and speedy donations. The other group re-designed the playground to include the new painted games that we are hoping to get in the very near future.
A group of 4 playground pioneers also planned a presentation to present all of our hard work from over the last few months and to ask the Parent Council for a donation so that we can get some fabulous, and long lasting games painted onto the playground. Some of these games include a multi-court, dance games, and an alphabet spiral…..exciting times ahead!!!!
