P3 have had a busy start to term 4. Here are some highlights from our week…
- enjoying our weekly session with Mary from Big Noise where we learned a new song
- learning to assess and manage risks to enable us to keep ourselves and others safe
- creating arrays to help our understanding of timestables
- discussing what we know and what we want to learn next about our new topic “Living and Growing’
- continuing to develop our reading skills – making predictions about a book using the title and front cover, learning to tell the difference between fiction and non-fiction texts and learning to sound out words as we read

Week Beginning 11 March 2024
This week we were very excited to perform at our ‘Celebrate Scotland’ assembly. Thank you to all the parents/carers who joined us!
We made hats to wear for our performance where we shared our learning about Robert Burns and sang ‘You Cannae Shove Yer Granny Aff a Bus’. This week we have also been developing our writing skills and we wrote a story about going to the swimming pool. We have been practising our addition skills, adding 3 numbers together and sharing our strategies with our classmates. We have also been continuing to learn how to develop our resilience and about Ramadan.
Week Beginning 4 March 2024
Here are some of the activities we have been doing for Book Week!
We began the week with a visit to the Book Bus and have continued to read our class novel, “The Day I Fell into a Fairytale”. On Tuesday we enjoyed a story and songs from Claire McNicol and on Wednesday we got to wear our PJs and bring our favourite stories into school. On Thursday we buddied up with the P7s for reading and by Friday we had completed our door display ready for the classroom door competition!

We have been continuing to develop our writing skills, using colourful semantics to create sentences, thinking about strategies we can use to make us more resilient, using rekenreks to develop our numeracy skills, continuing to learn about money and using peer feedback and a growth mindset to develop our drawing skills.

This week we have been …
… using peer feedback to improve our drawing skills, practising to read and write tricky words, developing our ball skills, learning to write in sentences, developing our knowledge of money and learning about rhythm in our Big Noise sessions!
Week Beginning 5 February 2024
Here’s some of the learning we have being doing this week.
We have been developing our addition skills and learning about ‘fact families’, making predictions and learning to sound out words correctly in our reading groups, practising our spelling rules and continuing to develop our racket skills in P.E. We have also been developing our art skills by learning to draw a thistle as part of our Robert Burns topic and had our weekly visit from Big Noise.

This week we have…
…visited the community garden to see how it has changed since our last visit in the autumn, practised how to sound out words correctly, developed our maths skills, performed the Circassian Circle for our parents/carers, had fun doing a variety of Burns themed activities and played games at our pyjama party as a reward for filling our marble jar!

A visit from the Book Bus, developing our drawing and writing skills, creating our own tartan as part of our learning about Robert Burns and developing our racket skills in P.E.
