Welcome P1 families to our page. We will use this space to share lovely moments we have throughout the week. It can get very busy, but we will try to update often. Thanks for being patient with us.
The pupils have had a great few weeks getting to explore and play in our learning spaces: the sun room, the flower room and our meadow. The health and wellbeing of our pupils is the most important thing to us. We have taken the time to establish nurturing and positive relationships with the pupils and we can say with certainty, they are a fantastic bunch! We are so excited about all the exciting things we are going to learn through play this year.
Here is a photo of us in our meadow space from last week.

We had photos taken last week by the Edinburgh Evening News and they should be published on either the 2nd or 3rd of October.
If you every have any questions, please ask.

Storytelling September
After a successful application to Book Trust Scotland, our Primary 1s are getting a weekly visits from Storyteller Clare McNicol.
The P1s have been developing their listening and talking skills, learning new stories and songs.
Claire is with us for 5 sessions this term and another 5 sessions at the beginning of the year. We hope to have a performance ready for you in February.

October

Some children enjoyed dressing up for Halloween. They enjoyed telling everyone about their costumes and pretending to be someone else for the day.
We also learned some Halloween themed songs at our music sessions with Big Noise. Our favourite song was one called ‘Pass the pumpkin round and round’.
November
P1 went on a magical trip see Cinderella the Panto at the Festival Theatre. The children said they enjoyed the singing, dancing and ice cream! Some of the children still enjoy talking about the show and sharing their favourite part.
December
P1 enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch with the nursery children. It was so exciting having lunch with the teachers and listening to Christmas songs.
We have also been busy learning and practicing some songs for our Winter Show on the 18th of December. We can now sing Jingle Bells in Spanish!

January
P1 had an exciting trip to Dynamic Earth this month. The children said they enjoyed the volcano eruption and seeing the moon and stars in the planetarium. We also loved wearing 3D glasses and pretending we were on a plane.

February
We have been learning to ask questions and collect information. Some pupils used their digital skills to record the information on the smart board.

March
Primary 1 have been working so hard this month learning new sounds. We also wrote our first sentence together. Look at their fabulous writing! We are learning to use a capital letter, finger spaces and a full stop in our sentences. Great work everyone.

April

Primary 1 enjoyed taking part in lots of different activities in Wellbeing Week. They enjoyed playing football, meeting Archie the dog and doing an obstacle course. We also enjoyed doing lots of events at Sports Day with the nursery children. At the end of the week everyone enjoyed a delicious ice lolly while looking at photos of Sports Day.
