Inclusion Inspectors

Meeting 1 – 17th September 2025

The inclusion Inspectors collaborated on the three key things they wanted to work on as part of our action plan. House Captains had identified the need for calm areas and the Inclusion Inspectors wanted to take responsibility for that. They then did a walk around the school to identify how we could support visitors to our school with visuals. Finally, they identified they have been enjoying learning Signalong and want to see this continued across the school.

Our action plan for this session is:

  1. To introduce calm areas in all classrooms.
  2. To create an put up directional visuals for visitors.
  3. To learn 11 Signalong signs.

Meeting 2 – 29th October 2025

Above are examples of visuals we saw during our audit.

Today, Mrs Hendry showed us the directional visuals she made that we agreed on as one of our targets at the last meeting.  Soon we will see these new visuals around the school directing our visitors where to go.

Afterwards, we paired up with our buddies and carried out the silver VSP audit on each classroom, traffic lighting the criteria.  Mrs Hendry will share our audits with the class teachers and help them to turn their reds and ambers into greens.  Once we are all green it will be time for us to apply for our Silver VSP Award, wish us luck!

Meeting 3 – 21st January 2026

After meeting one of our targets from our action plan, to put up directional visuals around the school, Sandra from the ASL service came in to carry out an audit for the Silver VSP award.  We are proud to announce that we have achieved the Silver Level VSP award and will display our certificate once we receive it.  We are also continuing to learn our signalong signs in assemblies and hope to achieve the 11 we set as our target.  Thanks to Mrs Innes and her daughter for helping us to learn these signs. Our next step for this action is to create a Signalong display.  We also began thinking about our final action, creating calm corners in classrooms.  We discussed the importance of letting the whole school have their say and worked together to create a survey to be completed by each class. This will be sent out and results gathered before meeting 4.
